Ibn Sina (Avicenna) was born in 980 in ancient Persia. The multi-skilled Ibn Sina was regarded as one of the top thinkers of the Islamic Golden Age. He was a philosopher, physician, astronomer, and writer. His books The Book of Healing and The Canon of Medicine are credited as the foundation of western medicine.
